If You Want to Avoid Buying Cuisinart Coffee Maker Parts

I am using Cuisinart coffee maker parts as an example, because I owned a cuisinart DGB-600 and even after a year of using, it is still in great condition. So, I thought this would sort of give me some authority to share how to best maintained a coffee machine.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

The fact is, if you look at Cuisinart DGB-600, you would probably think that this coffee machine would probably need some replacement parts in 3-6 months time. The reason being the filmsy nature of its parts and the many parts that it is having.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Now, the very first thing about maintenance of coffee machine is the location where you keep them. As most of these coffee brewers are armed with numerous electronic parts, exposing them to extreme temperature would lead to frequent breakdowns.

Placing your coffee maker too near to stove or windows is not a good idea. The heat from your cooking or the temperature outside your house would have an adverse effect on your machine.

Of course, kitchen counter top is the best place to put your brewer, that is where I put mine, and if I did not even spent a penny getting Cuisinart coffee maker parts after a year, I must be doing something right, don't you think so?

Next, would be the cleaning and maintenance of your machine. Although, it is difficult to keep to it, if you really want a long lasting machine, clean it after every use. Even if this meant cleaning it twice a day if you are using it 2 times a day.

Residual oil, after a while would turn rancid and this would eats into your coffee maker parts. Thus, rather than leaving it to chance, washing and cleaning it after every use is the best prevention from this happening.

If you are familiar with Cuisinart DGB-600, then you would know that it is alot of work to be cleaning this unit. So, if you think your Bunn or Mr coffee is difficult to wash, once you see mine, then there should be no complain, right?

Cleaning is an element that help me to maintain my coffee brewer and it got me some savings. In fact, regular washing would also ensure that your coffee is of good quality.

The last pointer is the frequency of your usage. If you are brewing half capacity 3 times a day, I would suggest to cut it to 2 or even 1 time if possible. This is because, the frequent usage would wear the parts faster.

Moreover, if you are brewing as and when required and the capacity is not full, you are also wasting electricity and effort. If you are not able to reach full capacity, then you should seriously consider a single serve coffee maker.

Getting a coffee maker that suits your lifestyle is the most important. Therefore, if you have chose a correct brewer, for my case a DGB-600, I only need to brew it once a day. And because it comes with thermal feature, I am able to have hot and fresh coffee for many hours with just one brew.

There you have it folks, some ideas to prolong the life span of your coffee machine and save some money in the process...

Get the Best Froth on Your Coffee!

A Guide to Getting the Best Froth on Your Coffee

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

To froth or not to froth - that is the question. Frothing (or foaming) milk has been done for quite some time now. Coffeehouses and baristas the world over have not been doing it because they were bored or what not but because frothing the milk enhances the taste of the espresso. The flavor profiles go out of this world and you are left with a sweetness that is so delectable to behold.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

There is even a new art form that is being derived from frothing called "Latte Art". The canvas is a fresh cup of pulled espresso and properly foamed up milk. The barista pours the frothed milk onto the hot coffee to make patterns and designs - "Latte Art".

Your frothing experience begins with the tools of the trade. However not a necessity, one will need a milk pitcher. Sure - you could use plastic but why cheapen your experience? Besides - If you are frothing in metal, it holds temperature better. If art is your goal, select a pitcher with a narrow and longer spout. If not then any shape will work for you. Do not over do it - nothing more than twenty ounces.

Now that you have your pitcher, get yourself a thermometer. A good one - not one of those dollar store things. Something with a digital read out would be ideal. You will need a damp cloth to wipe off the steamer nozzle. In addition, a spoon should be handy. After you spend time frothing you will get better and a spoon will not be needed. Your next selection is most important of all - the milk. Any milk will do for the most part but you want some fat to add extra taste so whole milk is your safe bet and, for a special treat, table cream.

Milk frothing is the process of adding air into it at a high rate. Now with your warm cups in hand and your coffee ground, brewed and ready, it is time to froth. The easiest way to get the best froth is by using an automatic milk steamer and it is fairly easy to operate.

First, you have to come to the party. If you are not there, the machine will kind of just sit there - that is boring. Of course, nearly as important is turning the thing on. These machines always have a "steam" button, which heats the boiler - you will need to wait for the little light to come on to tell you it is ready for action. When all of this is said and done, you must place the frothing arms deep into the milk pitcher. Tilt the pitcher toward yourself at a 45-degree angle then open the steamwand and that is it, because the frother will do the rest. Once you hit that 150-155 degree temp you're done. However, the froth will just be so-so.

Miele Kitchen Appliances - Which? Best Domestic Appliance Brand

Miele has just won Which? Best Brand Electronics for the second consecutive year. Miele appliances are more expensive than the average kitchen appliance, but the company insist that the extra money worth it for the quality of the product they receive. Miele's motto has always been 'getting better', which literally means "do better" or "better." Worden, the motto was conceived over 100 years ago by the founders and remains the company motto today

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Miele Kitchenappliances include washers and dryers, dishwashers, fridges and freezers, vacuum cleaners, ovens, steam and microwaves, hobs, cooker hoods, coffee machines and ironing. All of which are made to a very high standard and are designed for longevity, which may make parting with some extra cash at the initial purchase seem like a good long term investment.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Miele's first products were a cream separator, butter churn, and tub washing machine, under the Meteor brand. Miele were the first company to manufacture an electric dishwasher, the first company to manufacture a fully automatic washing machine and they were also the first company to manufacture a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher to be controlled by microprocessors.

These days, Miele kitchen appliances are exported to many global markets and Miele is represented in 37 countries. The products are currently manufactured in Germany and the Czech Republic then shipped to one of the ten showrooms in the United States or one of any number of showrooms across the globe.

On 7th February of this year, Miele was presented with an award in Munich for being the most successful company in Germany last year (2007). In the Best Company category, Miele beat the previous year's winner Google, which placed second, and also Porsche, which came in at third.

Miele kitchen appliances have their main competition from other high specification kitchen appliance manufacturers such as Bosch who are known for their quality and innovative technology as seen in the Logixx range of washing machines and Siemens whose headquarters are also located in Germany, specifically in Berlin and Munich.

As well as domestic Miele kitchen appliances, the German company also manufacture commercial appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers, rotary ironers, dishwashers, laboratory glassware washers, surgical instrument washers and dental instrument washers.

According to their website, all Miele kitchen appliances are designed to last for at least twenty years, are subjected to rigorous endurance testing as the product is being developed, go through an end line test before being passed on to quality control and are randomly checked against further quality criteria. So the process is quite long and strict in an attempt to provide a high quality product.

Miele kitchen appliances are available from a number of dealers, but the appliances have proved to be so popular that it is strongly recommended by Miele that if you want to visit the actual Miele experience centre then you should book in advance to avid disappointment. The experience centre is the one place that is not on the internet where you are able to see ALL of Miele's products under one roof.

Elements of Luxury Real Estate Part 1 - Gourmet Kitchens

Many residents of the South Bay pride themselves on cooking fine food at a high level of competence. Fueled by the plethora of cooking shows and chef challenges on television, the ready availability of high quality kitchen equipment, and an ever more sophisticated taste palate, the home chef has pushed the market for high end kitchens. Elements of the high end kitchen include: professional level stoves and ovens, generous areas of stone counter tops, top end flooring, deluxe appliances, specialized cabinetry, well designed lighting, and well thought out layouts.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Stoves and Ovens:

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

A stove top is the basic device for cooking. It is unthinkable that a kitchen would be without one. That being said, not all stove tops are built alike. For the gourmet chef, there is a nearly unanimous opinion that gas is superior to electric. That being said, there are also the new "induction" ranges that are electric but use an advance technology to heat special cookware. For gas ranges, there are many makes and styles available. Most important are the burners. They must provide as even heating as possible to avoid hot spots. The gratings over the burners are also important; they need to be level to avoid cold and hot spots on the bottom of cookware.

The single most important element of an oven is temperature control; it needs to be consistent, even, and settable. Many modern ovens come with advanced temperature settings and controls because of this. Next in importance is size. If you cook turkeys or pizzas in your oven, make sure it is big enough to accommodate them. Finally, many home chefs prefer the luxury of having two ovens. Why, because they can bake two dishes simultaneously. Dedicated pizza ovens are also a popular option.

Counter Tops:

Why stone counter tops? There are several good reasons but the most important is pasta and bread making. With a good stone countertop, you can easily knead together excellent dough quickly. And as with so many things in life, when it comes to counter tops, more is better! This is especially important if you do a lot of entertaining and have help in the kitchen. Stations can be allocated ahead of time to keep preparation of different dishes separated. A note on stone: it is not all created equal. For the kitchen, the hardest stone is better, it will not stain as badly and is less likely to shatter or crack. My personal opinion is that darker is also better as it does not show stains as badly. Many composites are available and work very well, but oddly enough the best are just as expensive as granite.

Flooring:

Tile looks good, sometimes great in a kitchen. But ask any professional chef and they will confirm that standing on it for an extended period of time can produce foot, leg, and back pain. For this reason, many home chefs prefer wood. Wood also adds warmth to any kitchen and most home chefs want a kitchen that looks good enough to show off to their friends. One disadvantage is that very hot items dropped on it may burn stains into the wood.

Appliances:

Mixers, toasters, microwave ovens, pasta makers, food processors, blenders, coffee makers, meat grinders, etc; a good kitchen designer will have planned for all of these. There are few greater impediments to great cooking than not having space to use and to store your kitchen appliances. Generous counter space and specialized cabinets can help alleviate the problem, but our favorite solution is the appliance garage which is a rollup door cubical at counter level. It hides the appliance when not in use but always keeps it in easy reach.

Cabinetry:

Take it from someone who cooks five nights a week, there is never enough cabinetry. There seems to be a rule that no matter how much storage space you have, you will fill it. The cabinets that give the most trouble are the corners. What most home chefs prefer for corner cabinets are build-in systems that allow easy access to the rear areas. Pots, skillets and sauce pans often do not fit well into standard cabinets and most home chefs prefer to have a generous, deep and wide, pan drawer. In recent years, a new closing system for drawers has made it easier to keep them shut-you just give the drawer a little push and it closes the final inch by itself. It does not sound like much, but you will never catch yourself on a slightly open drawer again. Finally, spices are very hard to find in a standard cabinet, and the exposure in open racks ruins them quickly. The solution: special narrow spice drawers or cabinets that make for easy access and protection against heat and light.

Lighting:

Daunting is the word I give to cooking in a dark kitchen. Painful is what I call the kitchen that is too bright. A gourmet kitchen will strike a keen balance between "it is too dark in here to find the peeler" and "I am getting a headache from these bright overhead lamps." Modern gourmet kitchen design takes into account the existence of natural light from windows, the lightness or darkness of counters, back splashes, appliances, and cabinets, and the size and areas to be illuminated. Gone are the days of the drop down ceiling bathing or failing to bath the kitchen in florescent grayness. Today the strategic use of controllable pod spots and floods, under-cabinet lighting, and pendant lights makes a gourmet kitchen both usable and inviting.

Layout:

Whether the kitchen layout is modern with island, country with a kitchen table or a standard galley, the layout is all important. Flow between the stove top, ovens, refrigerator, prep areas, and sink needs to be natural and logical. One of the greatest concerns I have had in the past few years is open space. Is there enough room to open the oven and not have to stand to the side? Can several people work at prep stations simultaneously and not get in each other's way? And is there ample room around the stove top to keep your mise-en-place handy and set cooked food such as bacon to drain or meat to rest?

In conclusion, this is not meant to be an exhaustive study of gourmet kitchen design, but touches on the issues faced when evaluating a kitchen's potential. In home buying, it is rare to find a kitchen that meets all the requirements of potential owners. What is important is to make a list of requirements and check off how well the kitchen in question meets those requirements, but more importantly, can be updated within reasonable cost to the new owners needs. In my next installment, I will discuss my favorite aspects of South Bay luxury: Game Rooms and Studios.

How to Clean Coffee Mugs

You never get a cup of coffee that was so badly stained preferred throwing away the only solution? Covenant not now! There are ways to clean it without damage to the cup.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Spot rule from the coffee / yourself come additives (cream / sugar), stir sticks and spoons. So be sure to choose the cleaning process, the action of the stain. One thing I strongly advise you NOT to wash coffee cups in the dishwasher. Hot water and steam inside theDishwasher, this can actually break the e-mail to the cup and cause crackling or spider veins (thermal cracking). You can tell if it has cracks in heat, if the inside of the glass has a mottled appearance, where filtered coffee in the interior walls. Always hand wash cups, so fresh and in good condition.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Problem: coffee / tea stains on the outside.

Solution. Most of the time, you can simply use ** magic eraser (Mr. Clean brand worksMiracles) and rub back and forth on the spot. ** If you rub each color, which is not on the cup (photo / print / images-glass) glass. If this does not work, see solution to the internal color

Problem: coffee / tea stains on the inside.

Solution 1: + 2 tablespoons of bleach water and let set for several hours. Make sure you bleach, to wash and rinse. Some people sink full of water and then add bleach to soak for severalmugs....please be warned that this will cause fading on unglazed print mugs.

Solutuion #2: Make Baking Soda paste (baking soda + a little bit of water) and then apply it to affected areas. Using a toothbrush can penetrate difficult stains. Wash and rinse.

Solution #3: Magic Erasers....the trick to using these are to not oversaturate the erasers....just dampen them and then rub.

Solution #4: Put baking soda directly onto magic eraser and scrub. This does take some effort, so if you dont mind some elbow grease, then use this method.

Problem: Spoon markings on inside.

Solution: My favorite product for cleaning is Bar Keepers Friend (**powder version). Slightly dampen the inside of mug and then sprinkle powder on inside. Let it set for 10-15 mins and then either use a finger or soft scrubbing pad, rub powder into mug. Wash and rinse. **I have tried the liquid version of Bar Keepers Friend but found that it  just doesn't do a good job as the powder. You can also use Bon Ami if you cant find Bar Keepers Friend.

Problem: Rust stains on mug

Solution: Bar Keepers Powder (read solution above)

Additional ways to clean mugs

---put denture cleaning tablets inside mug and fill with water
---CLR (for cleaning Calcium buildup, Lime and Rust)
---Whitening Toothpaste....yep....not for just cleaning teeth anymore!
---Toothpaste with baking soda
---Oxyclean. Make a paste with water and rub it on
---Salt. Dampen inside of mug and rub salt into stains
---Undiluted vinegar. Let it soak overnight for tough stains (esp. Corningware brand)

What Is the Best Thermal Coffee Maker?

When we strive to find out who makes the best coffee maker, we need to take into consideration the type of coffee machine, whether it be a drip, French press or single cup... and then compare how good the coffee tastes an hour after you have brewed it. Let's explore only the drip machines for now.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Many automatic drip coffee makers perform very well, but if you are like me, and want to return to grab another cup of coffee an hour or so after the first... it's important to have a thermal coffee maker.

Mr. Coffee Coffee Makers

Why does it matter if choose to use a thermal carafe?

The basic drip brewing system that most of us have in our homes utilizes a technique that heats up your water to the optimal temperature for extracting the best flavor from your coffee, and then slowly drips the heated water over your ground beans and releases the newly brewed coffee into a carafe.

The typical carafes are constructed of glass, and generally sit on a heat plate to keep the coffee hot.

What happens when your coffee sits on a burner for more than 10 minutes is devastating to the outcome of the brewed coffee. If you haven't tried tasting coffee from a thermal carafe, you are in for a real treat.

Why choose a thermal coffee maker?

When you realize that the best tasting drip coffee is brewed into a thermal carafe, the choices you have when selecting a coffee maker are substantially narrowed down to the top few manufacturers. Cuisinart, Black and Decker and Zojirushi coffee makers, just to name a few of the better buys.

I bet you have noticed that all the best coffee houses, such as Starbucks, use thermal containers to store the recently brewed coffee. There is just cause for this!

How do you select the best thermal coffee maker?

To find out which is the best coffee maker thermal style is as easy to find as browsing these few considerations:

Decide if you need a coffee machine to drip 12 cups, 10 cups or maybe just a cup or two at a time. You can find thermal pots in a variety of sizes. If you have a shortage of counter space, you should consider the smaller machine.

It's best to read all the reviews you can to see what others are talking about. Some machines are more complicated to use, and it feels like you need a whole day just to go over the manual. Others perform very simply, like the Zojirushi fresh brew, and you can usually get your first cup nearly as quick as you can unpack your new coffee maker.

Additionally, many manufacturers offer a water filter... and some manufacturers include a water filter (included with your purchase). After all, it's the quality of the water that will determine the final taste of your coffee. You will save money if the coffee maker has a water filter included with your purchase, and you will know that it's the right size for that machine.

Notice where the controls are located, and if they are lit at nighttime. It's not fun to fumble around with a coffee maker full of water. A backlit clock is nice, and it's easy to see when it's dark or early in the morning when most of us use our machines.

Filter baskets... What is the best choice?

Basically there are 2 shapes to coffee filter baskets, flat bottomed and cone shaped. The difference between the two is nominal, but you should know that a cone shaped filter basket would generally use less ground coffee than the flat-bottomed shape.

This is because the filter basket is wider at the top, filtering the hot water through the grounds to the pointed end at the bottom, assuring that all the grounds are uniformly wet. A flat-bottomed filter basket needs to have a good "sprinkler" type of drip machine to equal this, and since the basket is wider, it will use a bit more coffee.

Other options to consider

Typically, thermal coffee makers drip the brewed coffee into a thermal carafe. But, you will find some coffee-on-demand type of coffee machines that use an insulated reservoir to hold your coffee and keep it hot.

The problem with many of the coffee on demand types are that the reservoirs are constructed of plastic, and they use a heating element in the reservoir to keep your coffee up to acceptable temperature. This sometimes leads to plastic tasting coffee.

The idea is good, but I have yet to find one that uses a thermal carafe to hold the coffee and keep it hot for hours like the best thermal coffee maker can.
